Well-being and psychological discomfort at work, theree centuries of interpellation to Psychology
Main Article Content
Abstract
The tension between the demands of the world of work and the social and psychological needs of workers has been manifested by three centuries of industrialization. The aim is to explore the understanding of well-being, psychological discomfort at work and the impact of technology on these subjective states, analysing the participation of psychology in its approach, highlighting the contribution of the psychodynamics of work to its understanding. The method is a retrospective observation through a literature review. The result is that workers have historically been challenged to seek their well-being, as a constituent of their identity and to face discomfort, technology has been a participant in both, has deepened the first and has been the source of the second. Conventional psychology has sought the integration of the worker into the industry while safeguarding productivity and from the front, critical psychology has warned of these actions as a source of alienation. It is concluded that the wisdom and sagacity of the worker have allowed him to find well-being and cope with discomfort, evolutionary procedural learnings that the industry increasingly requires, despite the threats of current technologization, a new challenge for psychology.
