Abstract

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the significance of an intervention session designed to integrate aspects of sexual diversity into the COMPAS program, which has historically focused on the prevention of risks associated with sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and unplanned pregnancies. Method: The research employed a mixed-methods approach with a cross-sectional design, utilizing a multistage process that included the development of the intervention session, focus group discussions with nine Colombian adolescents aged 14 to 19 years, and an evaluation of the session by five expert judges. Results: The findings indicated that the session was relevant both quantitatively and qualitatively, emphasizing the necessity of its incorporation into the COMPAS program, with adjustments recommended based on discourse analysis. Conclusion: The importance of this session is underscored as a crucial step towards Comprehensive Sexual Education in Colombia, suggesting that its implementation could significantly enhance the program's effectiveness in promoting healthy sexuality.
