The digital medical record and its implication in education: Experience of a School of Dentistry in Colombia
Abstract
The digitalization of medical records is part of the academic and clinical process carried out in the field of 21st-century dentistry. The clinical development of this process is complex and requires significant organization involving three key stages: namely, a specific situational analysis that allows the involvement of stakeholders in the educational and administrative processes in the initial understanding of the structural elements of dental schools and faculties; the development of the system which involves the consolidation of tests and key stakeholders known as Key-Holders as elements of the process; and finally, training and final digitalization, with a primary focus on the accompaniment of stakeholders and the auditing of the entire process. Structures of this type highlight the importance of generating coordinated actions in the digital era, where educational environments are diverse, changing, and require an open mindset, especially in the current historical moments.
