eratomas are congenital tumors originating from germ cells. They are generally benign and uncommon, derived from the three primordial germ layers. They can be solid, cystic, or mixed. Their location is variable, with the gastrointestinal tract being one of the least frequent sites. Clinically, they present with nonspecific symptoms and may even be asymptomatic. A definitive diagnosis requires histopathological confirmation. Surgery is the treatment of choice. In our report, we present the case of a 68-year-old female patient with mechanical intestinal obstruction who underwent exploratory laparotomy. During the procedure, a mass was resected and histopathological analysis confirmed it to be a mature cystic teratoma.
