Abstract

This article examines the challenges to incorporate work-family conciliation policies into an overall
organizational strategy as a key to social development of countries. Particularly a culture that incorporates
in its organizational management the concern for integrating work and family life, simultaneously bringing
organizational benefits while reducing absenteeism and increasing productivity and employee commitment.
As a contribution to the discussion, we review here the main conceptual and theoretical view of the family,
social and labor transformations, its impact created on organizations, precisely on the perception of workers
and organizational results. Based on this evidence, it is established that, despite being a topic that needs
more development, it is necessary to review public policies upon results, applying the referred measures and
researching appropriate solutions to the Chilean context to improve the quality of live in the country.
