Dolor lumbar y su manejo no farmacológico: Revisión de la literatura

Introducción: El dolor lumbar es una condición incapacitante que afecta a millones de personas, siendo una de las principales causas de discapacidad. Si bien los tratamientos farmacológicos son ampliamente utilizados, los no farmacológicos se han convertido en un enfoque cada vez más importante y efectivo para aliviar esta afección, y actualmente se dispone de múltiples estudios que lo demuestran. Objetivo: Revisar la literatura actualizada sobre el dolor lumbar y los modelos de tratamiento no farmacológicos para abordarlo. Metodología: Se realizó una revisión narrativa de la literatura empleando términos MeSH, tanto de forma individual como en conjunto por medio de los operadores booleanos "AND" y "OR", en bases de datos como MEDLINE y ScienceDirect; se escogieron artículos originales en donde se describiera la epidemiología, los factores de riesgo, la evaluación del paciente y el manejo del dolor lumbar. Discusión: Se describe el impacto que presentan las técnicas no farmacológicas utilizadas, tanto de forma independiente como de forma conjunta, en pacientes con dolor lumbar a nivel del dolor, así como en la dependencia y los efectos secundarios de los analgésicos. Conclusiones: El manejo no farmacológico del dolor lumbar ofrece una variedad de opciones efectivas y seguras que pueden mejorar la calidad de vida y proporciona alternativas valiosas a los tratamientos farmacológicos
