Abstract

Nowadays there is a significant increasing number of women with HIV cases. New
medications have been developed to increase the amount of live but life quality remains
as the problem because some psychological variables have a high impact on the infec-
tion process. With in the most important findings there is a considerable number of
participants with high anxiety scores. Some people had high depression levels and in a
smaller, but not less significative number they had low perception of control scores.
With respect to perception of control levels, the results were according with others stu-
dies where issues like generation of selfcare behaviors and selfefficacy feelings, among
others, were remarked as very important. Finally, this study reaffirms the perception of
control as a mental and physical health predictor. This study was non-experimental,
correlational descriptive with transversal design and it was applied to 48 women with
HIV/Aids diagnostic from Cali, Colombia.
